Johanne has worked at Nordia Québec since December 1999. In 2008, the employees at Nordia decided to unionize with the USW, and they signed their first collective agreement on the 1st of December, 2009.

She became president of Unit 418A in the fall of 2009 and a few years later she was elected chief steward. She has been the Vice-President of District 5 of Local 1976 since summer 2019.
